Rachel had already established herself as a therapist/counsellor and had a healthy amount of clients. She was able to have success through the use of PsychologyToday and wasn’t sure whether she needed a website since she already had so much success from the PsychologyToday Therapist directory.

Rachel felt like she needed a website to give her some credibility and an online space of her own where she could give her clients a glimpse into what it would be like to work with her and create that connection with her ideal clients before they step foot into her office or join her for a virtual session.

She initially tried to DIY her site and ultimately decided that she needed support not just in how to design a good-looking site, but how to utilize it fully to be strategic in her efforts of marketing her private practice.

Rachel opted for a simple 1-page website to allow for the most important information, such as her services, to be very clear and easy to find for her site visitors. We were both on the same page about keeping her site clutter-free so her content and visuals could speak for themselves in a way that wasn’t overwhelming. Clients are already feeling many emotions when deciding to work with a therapist or counsellor for the first time, so the last thing we want to do is add to those feelings of anxiety or uncertainty.

During the design planning process, we worked together to help Rachel identify her ideal clients and gain clarity on her unique position as a therapist and how solidifying her niche would help her in her marketing efforts to attract those clients who perfectly align with her area of expertise.

I provided Rachel with guidance on her website copy to help keep the tone warm, inviting, and less clinical which often leaves potential clients feeling a lack of connection - one of the most important factors when searching for a therapist.
